what motor for project?

im feat to be buying either a fxr or a fxd that needs whatever work and pretty much customizing it to exactly what i want i want it to be fast, so im thinking which do you intellection would be better to go with a bunch of screaming raptor parts or to just put in an s&s locomote with whatever action parts?

i am gettin a nightster, i poverty the vance and hines wear and the noisy raptor air cleaner, but what would be a good "chip" or tuner for it, and how mush pwoer would i be lookin at?
