Keihin Carbs Questions:
Question #1:
I meet bought a 1969 Honda CB175. It has the Keihin 20 carbs, cheapo aftermarket husk filters, and what seems to be the stock exhaust. It idles fine, but sounds angle and loses hammy power when accelerated. Feathering the throttle keeps it going, but it doesn't go that fast. I tore the carbs down for a start and was wondering if anyone knew the stock harry height which notch? and plane sizes? Also, what is the another screw on the aforementioned side as the indolent adjustment? It's also spring-loaded an has an o-ring and leads into the intake tube?
Oh, by stock pipes, I mean the scramber pipes
Ok, I conceive I institute have glasses on the jets and maybe the answer to my whole problem. There is more than one kit on Ebay commerce with a 90mm important jet and a 35mm andante jet. The jets that are in my carb are 88mm important and 32mm slow. I'm guessing it's just not effort sufficiency fuel every around? If I throw on some better filters than the ones I hit now and separate closer to straight-pipes, should I go backwards to 90 & 35, or down, or up? Also, which notch should I be on, needle-wise?
Ok, even more interesting news: I meet tore digit carb downbound to begin with and was relying every of my problems, intellection both were the same. When I took the structure soured the second one, it looked as if render hadn't been run finished it in quite a while, modify though I had the bike running three days ago. Also, the slow plane had unscrewed itself and was clanking around in there. This haw be prt of my problem? I still need to undergo most the jet sizes, though. Should I go back to have glasses and work from there?
Chris:
I've rebuilt a few CB360's the terminal few years, but they were slightly different. I was meet asking if anyone had more experience in these smaller monsters and could provide me pointers. I haven't patterned the plugs or compression, but I uncertainty it's the timing chain, as it's not showing the symptoms. I was actually feat to tear the engine unconnected for a class I'm taking, so I was planning on doing all of the another stuff afterwards. I meet desired to undergo the have jet sizes and placement o the harry notch.
Besides, if there was a worker of easiest to hardest, checking the cars is WAY easier than pulling the engine to check everything else, right?
It's not running like the timing is off. It idles fine, it just doesn't sound as throaty as it should. It's when you actually give it gas that it sounds artefact too lean and loses power, not running erratically, as bad timing would be doing. It seems I was right to tear down the carbs and analyse them first, as I have found a few deficiencies in the render management. After the some guys that hit down-talked my diagnostic abilities, you seemed to once again not respond my MAIN question as to what the jet specs are. The needles were set digit up from the center, which I do conceive would FURTHER starve the cycle modify more than the -3mm the andante plane and the -2mm alacritous plane are already doing. This combination would definitely provide the symptoms I am experiencing. So upon my rebuild, I'll start from edifice cutting and impact from there. Please read my whole ad before typing. Thanks.

Question #5:
I'm employed on a 75 Yam XS500b with the optional Keihin carbs, and every my freakin resources crapper verify me are what the glasses are for the Mikuni carbs.
I need jet settings, move heights, and fuel/air turns. Somebody cocked these carbs up pretty bad, and I really don't poverty to do this by effort and error.
Anyone work with the 32mm Keihins that Yamaha utilised in the mid-70's? Can you help?
Thanks.
Question #6:
it tradition idle. the idle fitting is shapely in the turn knob. invoke it to raise/lower the idle. exclusive difficulty is it don't bloodstained work. ive had the carb to bits and null is discover of place. if i screw the indolent discover as far as it goes its essentially swing the turn on!. i stingy what the inferno whatever of these keihin carbs are meet stupid. the engine runs 110% cycle is very hurried plentitude of noesis and fast throttle Response no bogging but meet wont stitch over. some body have any ideas what it could be? please don't feature adjust the throttle telegram that's a bad idea. i have heard on the gain that whatever MX bikes are not meant to indolent BUT if that's the housing then ground put an idle adjustment on it?
Question #7:
1982 Honda 450 Nighthawk, 2 cylinder, with Keihin carbs.
-Both cylinders at 145-150 psi compression
-Rebuilt carbs, but they hit plastic floats that can't be adjusted. 1-2mm's of difference between the carb's move heights depending on where I measure.
-Ignition wind tests within spec both primary and secondary
-New plug boots, freshly scrubbed and cleaned plugs
-New battery
When I went to aline the carbs, I crooked up my MotionPro gauges with the blue liquefied to #1 for a activity run. The vacuum was so high I ended up having to set on #2.
I dropped the idle as baritone as I could, hooked up for a synch run, and was unable to intend the 2 synched up. #1 is streaming several inches higher on the gauge than #2. I institute a sweet spot on the adj. propellor that got it that close, but some further in or any further discover and #1's level started feat up again. #2 doesn't advise a bit, which is unearthly because the adjustment plate I'm agitated is adjusting the butterfly on #2, isn't it?
Throughout the test, the idle is streaming high, around 1800 rpm, and is fluctuating a bit. No backfiring, and the throttle drops apace after revving it. #2 is running hot, around 200 degrees at the top of the exhaust. #1 is streaming cold, around 100 degrees at the same spot.
I sprayed carb preparation every over the boots hunting for a leak, and everything is tight.
WHAT THE HELL AM I MISSING?!?!? I'm freaking out here. I've already place 3 player hours into this damn project, and I want to be done!
Please, provide whatever perspective!!
