i bought #8 wood screws 3 inches long at lowes. they are breaking soured i am trying to put up cleats in the pantry.
I predrilled the holes finished the tree cleats and i predrilled the holes with an 1/8 bit for the filler 8 screw. i also place rise on it.
why are they breaking i got 2 in okay. On the ordinal cleat i put one i and then put added in and it broke soured so today i hit to vanish the cleat and modify it a little because the holes on the oak cleats are predrilled . much a nightmare. my husband has gone to bag depot to intend maybe a different screw. should i be using a size 10 screw? i figured it would be easier to break a smaller #8 if i predrilled and place rise on it.
