Question #2:

Strange noise from Ford Ranger rear drum brake?

Truck is a 2009 author Ranger XL with the "7.5" rear axle. Recently had a collision where the rear of the pushcart slid sideways to the correct into a curb. Axle shaft was bent, as substantially as the rim. New rims place on. Axle dig was replaced. As of now it drives fine, and brakes fine, but when braking it produces deep toned "squeak" most once per turning of the wheel. The backing plate had been bent, but we pulled it back to where it was. Its been around 2 months since the impinging and repair, and the sound has gotten neither meliorate nor worse.

What are you thoughts? Perhaps the study is bent, or the backing plate still?

Question #9:

Emergency brake shoe tension?

Hello!

I hit a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD that I hit just replaced the rear brake rotors on, and I am perceptive most the emergency brake shoes. It took meet over an distance to remove digit armature with a 5# mallet because of the tension of the crisis brake position on the inner study of the rear brake rotor. The emergency brushwood was NOT engaged. While I do not typically ingest the crisis brake, I found the emergency brake position to show a high degree of wear. Considering the amount of brushwood shoe dress and the tension of the disengaged brake position on the rotor drum, I have to wonder:

a is there likewise such enmity on the disengaged emergency brushwood shoes, thereby feat an unreasonable and unnecessary amount of wear?

b With the turn of enmity present, how badly has this effected the fuel economy of the truck! In the prototypal few years of operation, it was not uncommon to wager almost 20 mpg highway from the diesel engine ... today the pushcart seems to be lucky to wager 16 mpg route .

c If the crisis brake footgear enmity is excessive, how crapper I decrease the amount of tension?

Thank you for your advice and assistance!
With the rotors on the axle assembly, it was impossible to access any internal conception of the e-brake mechanism. According to a topical mechanic and the local parts accumulation where I acquired the newborn rotors, the e-brake position are not adjustable. What bothers me, is that the rotors required excessive force to remove, and I conceive that is the offender for the poor mileage I hit been experiencing ... but internally, the e-brake gathering looks just same the old fashioned drum brakes I grew up with ... eliminate no fitting port!

Question #10:
